When thinking it through is no longer enough

People who carry significant responsibility are used to analysing problems, developing solutions and making decisions. That is precisely why it can be unsettling when those familiar abilities are suddenly no longer enough in a particular situation.

Perhaps you are facing a difficult decision, a recurring conflict, a professional or personal change, or a relationship that repeatedly triggers the same reactions.

Or perhaps there is simply a persistent sense that something is no longer right, even though objectively much of your life or work appears to be functioning well.

My coaching starts where more thinking alone is no longer creating enough clarity.

Coaching with Anja Lenk

What you may want to work on

A difficult professional or personal decision, a recurring conflict, a challenging relationship dynamic, a leadership or change situation, or a period of professional or personal reorientation can all be reasons to seek coaching.

What matters is not the category, but your specific situation.

That is why I do not work with standardised programmes or ready-made solutions.

How I work

Anja Lenk preparing for a coaching session

What we understand rationally does not always fully explain what influences our behaviour.

For that reason, coaching looks at both the visible situation and the personal and interpersonal dynamics around it. I work with clear analysis and focused questions. Where useful, I may also include emotional perception and body-based or visual approaches.

One element of my work is the Vermeulen Analyse Modell® (VAM®). It formed part of my Business Coach training, “Spurrillenwechsel® erlernen”, based on the coaching approach developed by Boudewijn Vermeulen under the direction of Dr. Eva Kinast.

The approach can help reveal connections that have previously been difficult to access through rational analysis alone.

For me, this is not about setting reason against emotion. My own leadership experience has taught me how important clear analytical thinking is. Coaching expands that perspective by including aspects that are often less visible in conventional decision-making and leadership models.

What the work is ultimately about

I do not promise a quick answer or a particular outcome.

My aim is to help you understand your situation more fully – what is obvious and what may until now have been less visible.

From that understanding, new possibilities for action can emerge. Which of them is right for you, and what you decide to do, remains your decision.

the process

The coaching process

01

Initial conversation

We get to know each other, discuss your situation and determine whether coaching is appropriate and whether working together feels right for both sides.

02

Process conversation

If we decide to work together, we sharpen the issue and agree on the focus of our work.

03

Individual preparation

Based on our conversation, I prepare the personal session specifically around your situation.

04

Personal coaching session

The main session usually lasts around three hours and generally takes place in person. The personal and protected setting is an important part of my approach.

05

Follow-up preparation

After the session, I review and reflect on the process professionally.

06

Telephone follow-up

A few days later, we speak again. We look at what has become clearer, what may have shifted and which next steps may follow from it.

Location and language

I coach in German and English.

Sessions may take place in my coaching lounge, at the client’s location or at another suitable location agreed together. National and international engagements are possible.

What working together requires

Coaching requires openness and personal responsibility.

That means being prepared to look honestly at your own situation, consider new perspectives and include your own role and recurring patterns in the process.

My role is to structure the process, ask questions and help make relevant connections visible. The decisions and their implementation remain yours.

Coaching is not therapy

Coaching is not psychotherapy. My coaching is intended for people with professional, entrepreneurial or personal concerns. If it becomes clear that another form of professional support would be more appropriate, I will address this openly.

Coaching for companies

Anja Lenk in a business setting

Companies may engage me for individual coaching assignments with executives and others in positions of responsibility.

From more than 30 years of international leadership practice, I know organisational dynamics, commercial pressure, competing interests and the reality of complex change. This experience helps me understand a coachee’s professional context quickly without turning coaching into conventional management training.

Even when coaching is commissioned by a company, the coaching relationship remains confidential. Before the engagement begins, the commissioning organisation, coachee and coach agree on a clear framework. Personal content and insights remain protected; substantive feedback to the organisation is provided only within a framework agreed in advance and with the coachee’s consent.

Scope, fees and any additional services are agreed individually.
